National Indigenous Day is on Monday, June 21st. Donna – Marie Greggerson, our Indigenous Support Worker and Adelle Barker, our Truth and Reconciliation Staff Representative, have planned a day of activities that include educational stations students will rotate through. Stations include information about Secwepemc plants and artifacts, story telling, and a giving back to the earth activity, which will include our students going out into the community and picking up garbage. Thanks to Ms. Richoux for volunteering on her day off to host an activity that visually shows our students how we are all connected. Once students have completed their rotations and are back in class, they will have the option to have bannock and a taste of smoked salmon.
A huge thank you to all staff at Falkland School for donating food, time, services, and creative thoughts to help make this day happen.
I would like to take this opportunity to especially thank Donna – Marie Greggerson for her hard work this past school year in supporting staff and students at our school. While we hope she will return to us in the fall of 2021 to continue her role as Indigenous Support Worker, her current position is temporary. Monday, June 21st will be her last day at our school. Farewell for now Ms. Donna.
