Our visit to the Salmon Run

Did you know only 2 salmon out of 4000 eggs have the chance to return home to spawn? On Tuesday, October 2nd students in grades two through eight attended the “Salute to the Sockeye” experience at Tsutswecw Provincial Park. While our visit was early in the season, we witnessed several salmon at the end of their adventure. Students in grades two through six learned about the anatomy of various salmon and how important they are to the ecosystem. We are thankful to staff from Fisheries and Oceans Canada for sharing their knowledge of the salmon lifecycle at the interpretive stations and to Go Grant for the funds to support transportation.
